It’s easy to lose motivation the further we get away from our goals. It takes courage to keep moving forward every time we hit a bump, and these kids face some huge challenges. What keeps us inspired at Pivot is the resilience of the youth we serve. They have grit – “a special blend of persistence and passion.” » Read More

    Updated on February 28, 2018
The holiday season is a time for friends, family and peace on Earth. But, on Christmas night, 2016, three bullets ripped through the still night air, ringing out like church bells and forever changing the lives of one family.

The father of Stacy’s son had stopped by her home to see his son on Christmas night. However, the visit quickly took a turn for the worse when it became apparent that the boyfriend was under the influence of alcohol. Talking escalated to arguing. Stacy told her daughter Ashton, age 13, to call 911. When the boyfriend heard the police were coming, he pulled out the gun and fired the shots, hitting Stacy. He fled before the cops arrived. » Read More

The end of October is here. It's the time of year that brings together family and friends to celebrate all things associated with the beginning of fall, the onset of winter and, of course, the holiday season.

For many of us, family traditions become topics of discussion, along with reflecting on what's important in our lives. Soon bells will be ringing in front of local shops and stores, incredible displays of holiday decorations and Christmas lights will be up across the metro, in neighborhoods and our homes. Children will begin finalizing their "wish lists" after putting months of thoughtful planning and their dreams into that all-important list for their families. For most of us, it's a time of excitement, child-like joy, reflection, time with our loved ones and friends and hope for what is to come. » Read More
